One year ago today, an extremely nervous man knocked on my door. He had earphones in and a notebook with the cover turned inside out so the pages were visible.
“Shh… Just let this cheeseball moment happen,” read the first page.
So I did. I slumped against the doorframe, smiling, waiting for him to flip the page.
The final page flipped, asking, “Will you be my girlfriend?”
“Yes,” I said, flinging my arms around him.
That was the beginning of Gabe and Lauren: Volume I. And one year later, I’m just as happy as I was on that day.
