I’ve always loved Cover FX and when I posted about their Mattifying Primer as one of my favorites last month, the ladies at Cover FX offered to send me some of their favorite products (including a sneak peek of their brand new Illuminating Primer that comes out December 26!).

So, I gave them a try and instantly fell in love. Cover FX has truly mastered the art of a flawless, natural face. Here’s what I tried out:

New! Illuminating Primer
CC Cream in Pink Light-Medium
Total Cover Cream Foundation in P40
Matte Setting Powder in Light

First, I learned so much about my skin tone from getting matched by a Cover FX representative that happened to be at Sephora one afternoon. Apparently, since I have warmer, olive-toned skin, they recommend using their pink undertone range. I was told it would brighten my skin tone and be a better match than the golden or neutral undertones I’m used to. I must admit, I was a bit nervous. But after trying the products in the P40 shade? I’m never going back!

I tried each of these products in different ways and in different combinations. My favorite combo was applying the Illuminating Primer on moisturized skin, then using a damp Beauty Blender to apply the CC Cream. The CC Cream is super creamy and has incredible coverage but is still light and natural. I then used a fluffy powder brush to dust some of the setting powder, focusing on my t-zone (forehead, nose, cheeks and chin — the spots that get oily throughout the day!). I couldn’t be more impressed with the smooth, even finish.

The Illuminating Primer is perfect for creating that luminous, radiant glow that gives a beautiful finish even without makeup. I prefer a bit more coverage, but it’s definitely a great option for a quick spruce-up before running out the door.

The CC Cream. I can’t say enough good things about the CC Cream. I highly, highly recommend using a damp Beauty Blender to apply as it is a bit thick. The first time I tried it, I applied using my fingers and it took a while to get a perfectly smooth finish. The second time I used a stippling brush, and the third (and winner!!) was the damp Beauty Blender. It’s just such a perfect application and blends out so naturally!

The Total Cover Cream Foundation is now something I carry with me wherever I go for touchups. I prefer the CC Cream on a day-to-day basis and have been using the Cream Foundation for touchups. The formula is super easy to apply and blends easily. It’s a little more coverage than I generally use on a daily basis, but it’s phenomenal for touch ups, or for when you’re going out and don’t want to think about reapplying all day or night. The combo of the Illuminating Primer and the Cream Foundation is perfection. When I used these two together, I didn’t use the Setting Powder and it was the perfect, radiant, dewy look that stayed put all day. I prefer the CC Cream on a day-to-day basis and have been using the Cream Foundation for touchups.

I’m not usually a fan of loose powders. They tend to get all over the place and I hate hate wasting product. But, the Matte Setting Powder is worth it. First, it does what it’s supposed to: sets your make up for ALL DAY wear. Seriously. It’s also very light and does not cake like some other setting powders. Other setting powders I’ve used have made it feel like I’m wearing a powder. They sometimes tend to be over-drying. Not this one, ladies.

And the result?

Overall, I’m super excited about these new additions to my routine and I already have a couple more Cover FX products I’m hoping to try out (hint, hint: Cream Concealer).

What’s your go-to for flawless foundation?

While I did receive these products for free, from Cover FX, my opinions are 100% authentic. I will never write about or recommend a product I don’t personally adore. Period.
