I was a little late on the bandwagon of Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love, but I did hop on. And it was quite a ride.
A brief synopsis: Elizabeth went through a terrible divorce, which she doesn’t divulge much about. It almost came across as if she woke up one morning crying in the bathroom and wanted a divorce. There is no backlog as to why this marriage was so miserable – but it laid the foundation for her journey around the world to find “a balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence.”
My parents always taught me to tell the truth. Under any and all circumstances, never lie. Lying will get you in more trouble than not. Always be honest. No matter the circumstances, honesty always prevails. Always.
I went and saw Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D last night. Let me just say, it is absolutely amazing. After the initial first moments of pure nausea, watching a move in 3D totally blew me away. The detail, the intricacies, the fact that objects looked like I could literally reach out and touch them…WOW. Technology [...]
I’ve been thinking about tattoos a lot lately. Well, I was thinking about them in college, but could never decide what I wanted on my body for the rest of my life. Plus, when my parents said he wouldn’t be totally and utterly pissed at me, it was kind of a buzz kill. But now, [...]
Evidently my first post on interfaith marriage didn’t cover all the bases. I received many questions via comments, posts and email; therefore, I am going to expand. Obviously, when I discuss marriage, I am venturing into uncharted waters. I’ve never been married and I probably won’t get married for years. Many of the questions I [...]
After my last post, How About Peace?, I received some questions from a Twitter friend about religion and my beliefs when it comes to marriage. Q: What, if anything do you expect from your (future) partner? Same religion, same beliefs, or does it matter? A: I think this question is tough for anyone to [...]
I had lunch with my cousin yesterday. It was a great lunch – we went to Cantina Laredo in the 29th Street Mall in Boulder, had margaritas and ate lots of Mexican food. Midway through the meal, our small talk and catching up turned into a very interesting conversation. I’m Jewish. My family is Jewish. [...]
Who knew that three words, the longest one only consisting of four letters, would hold so much merit. These three words, uttered between couples, family members, friends or really anyone these days. Many people just say “I love you” to get what they want, others (most people I fear) say them without knowing their true meaning. These three words hold an incredible amount of power – but, did you know, these three little words also have many meanings.
Today is day two of Passover.
I spent the last two nights at family Seders celebrating the Jews’ brave escape from the evil Pharoah. I can’t even tell you how many times I have had to tell the story of Passover to friends and strangers in order to explain why I’m eating “weird” food for eight days and going to big family gatherings. Surprisingly enough, I don’t mind explaining.
