Today marks day one of the longest time I’ve been away from San Francisco since I moved two and a half years ago.
I overpacked.
I have mastered the art of packing for an overnight trip in one small duffel bag.
A weekend trip? No problem, I’ll just take my carry-on.
But two back-to-back trips, spanning over 13 days? What do I pack?? I guess it’s better to be over-prepared than under…
First Stop: Las Vegas
I’m currently in between sessions at the WOMMA Summit at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. This hotel is incredible. I’ve stayed in nice hotels before, but this one takes the cake.
I love the WOMMA Summit. Last year, I made some great friends and connected with some of Context Optional’s biggest customers (and even some potential customers, too!). I’m really looking forward to what this year brings.
Second Stop: Colorado (and I’m nervous)
On Friday, I fly directly from Las Vegas to Denver. My little cousin — who I suppose isn’t so little any more — is becoming a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday and I’m joining in on the festivities. Can’t miss a Torah reading sesh and a DJ playing Top 40s!
I’m staying through the entire week to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. I can’t wait to spend some time in Colorado — I really haven’t been back for an extended period of time since I moved. I can’t wait to catch up with my bestie, and all of my other friends who have scattered around the country.
I’m nervous because…..my boyfriend is joining me and my family this year for Thanksgiving….
We’re approaching our one-year anniversary (where the heck did the time go??) and while I am nervous for him to be all up in my element, I’m really excited to show him around Colorado. He’ll have a chance to experience where I grew up, where I hung out, what I did, and meet all of my friends and family.
Here’s to a wonderful 13-day adventure!
Have a great time!!!
Thanks! I’m super excited for both trips 🙂
HOW DO I GET TO SEE YOU AND THE BOYFRIEND IN COLORADO?!
Wahhh!!! When and where are you going to be??
So, last year’s BiSC? I went from there to NYC for a work conference, totally back-to-back, and I DEFINITELY overpacked. But, how do you pack for VEGAS and NYC-for-work in one suitcase? Not easy. Anyway — have fun in Colorado! I miss it, sometimes, and wish I was going to be spending some holiday time w/ my family this year — soak it up!
Oy. It’s definitely tough!!! Plus, I’m packing for a conference, a Bar Mitzvah AND Thanksgiving. Whew! Wish you were in Colorado, my dear. I’m definitely taking the boy to The Med 🙂
I want to catch up while you are here!
Hey stranger! Message me on Facebook and we’ll see what we can work out!
I am so excited for you…. oh the stories you will have. So happy for you. Love you lots.
Definitely looking forward to it. Thanks, Maria!
Have an AMAZING trip! And good luck with the boyfriend meeting the family – that’s a big step, but a great and amazing step too! You guys will be great 🙂
I’m sure it will be perfect 🙂
I am so excited to see you! I am always really looking forward to meeting this famous boy who has been in your life for nearly a whole year! Please do not be nervous because we are all going to take one look at how HAPPY he makes you and we are all going to love him! At this point we trust your judgement (has not always been the case) and we are all just so excited to meet him! I love you so much! Safe travels and I will squeeze you to pieces very soon! Xoxo
I can’t wait to see you either! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year and you haven’t met the boy. BLASPHEMY! I already prepped him that he’ll probably see me cry when I see you. 😉
Totally understandable that you overpacked, I would too! My (not so) little cousin is becoming Bar Mitzvah next month, and it’s totally weird. I remember holding him when he was a baby! I hope you have an amazing two-part trip, and enjoy the time with family, friends, and the boy 🙂
It’s weird right! You think they’re going to be little forever and then all of a sudden…. YOU’RE OLD! 😉
My boyfriend is joining us for thanksgiving too!! I’m not as worried about my element, much more worried about him being exposed to my extended family members. Let’s just say if he doesnt break up with me, then this guys for real 😉
I’m glad ton hear you’re coming back. Have a great trip and if you guys get bored (ha, yeah right, I’m sure) don’t hesitate to get in touch – I’d love to see you!
Seriously… He’s met most of my immediate family separately, but it’s really when they’re all together that shit goes down. I’m thoroughly excited, but nervous too! Kind of… make it or break it….
Are you living in Boulder or Denver? I’d love to grab coffee if we can! I haven’t seen you in ages, and I’m so thankful we’ve kept in touch online 🙂
Wow – 13 days gone IS a lot! Not sure I’d know what to pack for that long gone either. I’ve done a few 10 day trips and I always manage to WAY overpack, always telling myself I need to have options.
Thanksgiving sounds fun! That’s wonderful that the boyfriend gets to come with you and experience your family and the places you grew up!
13 days is a nice length trip! I hope you enjoyed your 13 day trip! I wasn’t sure what to expect from Vegas but I really liked it when I went there 🙂
It was definitely a long trip! And sooooo awesome. Thanks for your comment! 🙂
