Online dating is hard. And not in the good way.

First of all, yes, I’m admitting to succumbing to the Internet to date. I’m not going to defend my decision to do so farther than stating that I don’t like to meet guys in bars or clubs as they’re only looking for one thing, and with my work and play schedule, it’s hard for me to meet anyone outside of, well, the Internet.

Second of all, it’s hard. Really hard.

What to do when technology FAILS.

I arrived at my apartment last night, flipped on the TV, unpacked my laptop, and checked my phone. All before I had even taken my sweater off. Much to my dismay, the TV screen was blank, the Internet wouldn’t connect, and we all know what happens when you’re an iPhone owner. I started to panic. My heart began to race and I was instantly overcome by frustration. “WHY??? WHY AREN’T YOU WORKING??? You have ONE job in life, and it’s to WORK and you CAN’T??” Then I took a deep breath. And smiled.

While I’ve been “away”

You may (or may not) have noticed that my blog updates have been, well, sparse, in the last couple weeks. However, while my blog posts have been few and far between, I have most definitely been around.

Online Privacy: please avoid serial killers.

So, my lovely and ever-so-thoughtful father made me watch Criminal Minds last night. For those of you who don’t know, Criminal Minds is an American police drama that follows a team of profilers from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. They focus on the criminal rather than the crime itself. Needless to say, he didn’t have to twist my arm too hard, as I am a huge fan of those crime shows – CSI, Law & Order, NCIS, etc. However, this episode of Criminal Minds hit a little close to home.

A true test for human kindness

My flight back to San Francisco from Denver was an eventful one. The last passenger to board the plane was a young man, probably in his early thirties, who announced to all the passengers that they should not worry because “after a few more drinks, [he] could fly this shit.”

Apparently, I’m a control freak.

I’ve said it a million times. “Create your reality.” You are in charge of your life and where it goes. Create your happiness. You are in control of what you do, who you associate yourself with, how hard you you work, what you achieve. You are in control of your life. Your destiny. Except one little part.

On the passage of time

I spent my Saturday night this weekend reminiscing with the lovely Kaci. It may sound silly, but it was all brought on by me considering highlighting my hair again like I used to do. I was showing her pictures that I had found on the Internet of pretty highlighted hair, and next thing we knew, I was sending her old pictures I have of myself with long, almost blonde hair. That was definitely, “back in the day.” But when I really think about it, it wasn’t that long ago.

What I’m currently…

I know I just gave you all an update on life in San Francisco, but I feel it was a little…vague. Yeah, I talked about all the big things going on in my life, but there are so many little things that are going on, too! And, you know, it’s all about the little things. So here’s what I’m doing…currently.

Friday Q&A

I know it’s been a few weeks since we’ve done one of these! I decided to do it a little differently today. I have always been really into those books that ask you questions about yourself and your life. I took some of those questions and have answered them here for you. Don’t forget to ask me your questions for next week on the Ask Lauren tab above!

There’ll be days like this…

Today. Was a bad day. I knew it was going to be a bad day when I left my apartment this morning, forgot my breakfast, went back up, got my breakfast, came back down, it was pouring, went back up, got my umbrella, and walked to work.
