In February, I had the pleasure of sipping a glass of red wine with Molly from Stratejoy, Nicole, Suki and Amy. First of all, these ladies are all amazing. Second of all, I would be surprised if Molly made it through one get together without asking a question that makes everyone think.
Facebook has already made it easy to hide other members’ status updates if you no longer wish to read them in your news feed. Now, you can keep others from reading your updates as well. The New York Times recently published an article detailing “How to Hide From Friends You Don’t Like,” further instilling the fear we all have when engaging in social media. While this may be a plus in the personal sphere, it’s a little frightening for brands that also appear within the same pages of Facebook.
Ever had one of those days where tasks just keep piling and piling and piling and you’d rather stab yourself in the face with a butter knife than even attempt to sort through all of them? You know, the days when a million different people are asking you to do a million different things and you don’t even know where to start so you just keep taking bathroom breaks in order to avoid the inevitable mound of work that’s piling up?
Context Optional partnered with WOMMA to host our first Wine Wednesday event yesterday. We’re big supporters of WOMMA and their mission to further the practice of word of mouth marketing. The non-profit represents marketers, researchers, service providers and agencies and is helping to pave the way for our industry. We were excited to join forces with them last night.
I arrived at my apartment last night, flipped on the TV, unpacked my laptop, and checked my phone. All before I had even taken my sweater off. Much to my dismay, the TV screen was blank, the Internet wouldn’t connect, and we all know what happens when you’re an iPhone owner. I started to panic. My heart began to race and I was instantly overcome by frustration. “WHY??? WHY AREN’T YOU WORKING??? You have ONE job in life, and it’s to WORK and you CAN’T??” Then I took a deep breath. And smiled.
Social Media is a new marketing tool, and everyone is still trying to figure out how to best use it. But don’t lose faith – just gain creativity.
I’ve said it a million times. “Create your reality.” You are in charge of your life and where it goes. Create your happiness. You are in control of what you do, who you associate yourself with, how hard you you work, what you achieve. You are in control of your life. Your destiny. Except one little part.
I know I just gave you all an update on life in San Francisco, but I feel it was a little…vague. Yeah, I talked about all the big things going on in my life, but there are so many little things that are going on, too! And, you know, it’s all about the little things. So here’s what I’m doing…currently.
